Archers {{Birthday}} Month + giveaways + deals and much more!

Holy cow, how can it already be February?  I swear I was just finding out I was pregnant, now I have a almost one year old?!  Time really does fly by SO quickly and its such a bitter sweet emotion.  I love being able to watch Archer grow up and learn new things but I am dying for my sweet, soft newborn to be back in my arms.

The love I have for my little guy is out of this world.  I never understood motherhood but after having Archer its crystal clear.  I don't feel that you are ready for a baby or motherhood in anyway.. But you learn to adapt with the struggles, happiness, and trials that come with becoming a mother.  Nobody prepares you for the emotions you feel when they lay that little baby on your chest and when you want to get so mad at him for playing in the toilet but he looks at you with these eyes and your heart just melts.

All these emotions can come in a later blog post but for now I am here to share some of my favorite small business shops that have kept Archer stylin and oh so cute!  Make sure to head to my instagram @shalynyardley_ for some awesome giveaways going on during February!

Product {Review}

Okay, I have been such a bad bad blogger lately.  Life is extremely crazy!  I am working full time, we are always out of town on weekends, and I am hoping life slows way down because this mama is tired.  Anyways, I have been getting Archers Christmas list stacked with all sorts of goodies and this season I obsessed with buffalo plaid.  I honestly don't know why because I am not a red person AT ALL.  But everything about this print screams to me and I buy anything and everything that is Buffalo Plaid.  Back to my post- I purchased this blanket from Love & Lullabies off instagram.  I seen their blankets but I have never really ordered Archer blankets from offline because I love to feel them first.  But, when I saw this blanket I had to buy it.  I bet you guessed... its buffalo plaid with faux fur.  Seriously. So with this being said - (this review is no way sponsored by Love & lullabies)

Love & lullabies
I purchased this blanket and received it yesterday.  It was suppose to be saved for Christmas but once I opened it, saw it and felt it... Archer was having it now!  So with that being said, he is currently snuggled up with his blanket watching cartoons and I am one happy mama.  It really is so soft, even the red fabric is soft and the faux fur is my favorite.  It is a pretty good sized, and will be nice when it gets cold to wrap him up!  The only downfall was I was impatient and wanted my blanket now, and since everything she makes is homemade it took some time, but it was worth the wait.  Not to mention Alyssa is so nice and kind, which always makes me want to continue purchasing from small shops if they are kind and sincere.

I highly recommend this shop to any friends with little ones to go and purchase.  I know I will be purchasing again... AND to top it off Alyssa has offered all my readers and instagram followers a discount code - enter      archer15      at checkout for 15% off your total purchase.

9/26/2015

Today we went to the Swiss Days in St. George and went to the car show.  We had kilo italian ice and a yummy tropical punch drink and spent our day looking at old, fancy cars.  Archer loves to go out and about and it was better then sitting home on a Saturday.  Afterwards, we hit Target and got Archer some new winter clothes, a sippy cup and you can't leave without a new toy.  We ate at Olive Garden and T is now building me a brand new dining table!! Yay!  I cannot wait to get a new, bigger one in there and I love that he is building it.  I love having a handy husband that can build just about anything and I love having a dining room with a soon to be big table for us to sit down and enjoy dinner time together.  Todays outfit was based around the fact that A. its still 90 degrees outside so warm enough for short sleeves & sandals but B. I want fall and cooler weather so I managed jeans instead of shorts/capris.

The top is a new purchase from Maurices the other day and is so soft.  It is a suede material and I love the floral print.  I am becoming obsessed with floral print.

My jeans I couldn't find on Bohme's website but they are flying monkey and the boyfriend style.  You can find a similar jean here.

Sandals are a couple years old but are American Eagle brand.  They haven't worn out and are super comfy.

Stroller is a Jeep Adventure Jogging Stroller.  It is my favorite stroller ever made and I am so glad I purchased it.  Since purchasing they have came out with an newer model and I so wish I had it, but I love the one I do have.

Archer is wearing a Tee from Charlie & Chomper and his shorties are from Monsters Under My Bed Co and moccs are Freshly Picked.

Hope you all had an awesome Saturday!

September Favorites ||

It is almost October, I cannot even believe that.  Archer just turned 7 months old and I cannot even believe that.  September flew by and I have a bunch of monthly favorites that I want to share.

Beauty & Style ||

1. Too Faced "born this way" foundation.  I ran out of my foundation and went to Ulta to buy a new one..  They talked me into buying the too faced, born this way foundation and I am so glad I did.  It is one of my favorite foundations and covers but also feels light weight.  I don't like foundation that is cakey and thick, but I like it to cover.  This does just the trick.

2. Naked Smokey Palette // I bought this palette at a Ulta Urban Decay event and I LOVE it.  It is super pigmented and works good for smokey eyes.  It has every color that I would wear, and has glimmer & also a couple matte shadows.

3. Lorac Unzipped Gold Palette / I purchased this little beauty off the app POSH.  Someone swatched it and was selling it for half price!! So I snagged it and I love it.  The colors are so pigmented and metallic.  I get so many compliments on my eye shadow.

5. Babe Extensions // I love babe hair and I have worn their hair before but I just recently went and purchased new 22 inch extensions and I just love babe hair.

6. Alex & Ani Bracelets // My friend Barbie got me hooked on these and now I am obsessed.  I have three of them but I am wanting more!  I purchased mine used off of POSH because I didn't want to pay full price for one and the ones I loved were last seasons.  Currently I have a feather, a seahorse in honor of my niece who passed away, and a half of heart with friends.  The other half with Best is with my best friend Kenadee. (throwing it back to middle school haha.)

7. Jamberry // I got hooked with jamberry from a friends party and I decided to sign up to sell it myself.  I absolutely love how they look on my  nails and they work so much better then nail polish.
shalynyardley.jamberry.com

Home ||

1. Jersey Sheets from Target.  I just upgraded my sheets and picked out these jersey sheets from target and I am loving them.  They are stretchy, soft and feels so good to snuggly up in!

2. Bath & Body Works "Caramel Pumpkin Swirl" candle+wall flowers.  This scent is oh so yummy and I filled my whole house with wall flowers + candles and it smells amazing.

3. Chalkboards || I have always liked chalkboards but i am kind of obsessed now.  I have them all over my home and I just purchased a calendar style chalkboard and I love it.

4. Magic Erasers || These aren't too new but they take anything off.  That cute chalkboard I just mentioned above, yeah well I Accidentally wrote on it with permanent marker (i thought i was a white chalkboard marker) and well nothing would take it off.  I almost just threw the chalkboard away when I tried a magic eraser and it came right off!!

 5. Honest Company Diapers || I absolutely love these diapers for Archer.  Not only are they the cutest diapers ever made but they are just so amazing.  He never leaks or blows out and have I mentioned I am in love with their cute prints? I also LOVE their cleaning line. I use the cleaning spray and it smells so good and works amazing.  Plus I love that it is all natural so if I use it to clean anything of archers and he puts it in his mouth he will be okay!

Disneyland with a 6 month old ////

We always get spontaneous ideas into our heads and most the time follow through with them.  Labor day weekend was coming and we had no plans whatsoever so we got the wild idea to go to Disneyland.  We had talked about it for a while now but every weekend just didn't seem right.  We decided it was the perfect time because of labor day we both were off work, and we both had the weekend off.  We packed our stuff quickly on Friday and jumped in the car at 9PM to head to California.  We debated waiting until Saturday to leave but with Archer we felt driving through the night would keep us sane.  Because this last month Archer has hated the carseat.  He screams every time we put him in and frankly I just wasn't going to listen to him scream for 5 hours.  So, we packed, got in the car and headed down to Anaheim, California.  We arrived at about 3:30 AM and was completely disappointed in our hotel arrangements (we requested 2 queen beds and got 1 full sized bed) and so luckily they had a crib for Archer to sleep in.  Anyways, we arrived and got to bed and woke up the next morning to head to DL.  The lucky part of this whole arrangement is 1. Archer was free to get in and 2. since we are military we get the military discount.  It is a 3 day pass for about $132 per person but the best part is, if we don't use all three days we can come back ANYTIME!  I had no idea that it worked like that until my good friend Kenzie told me.  So SCORE we get to come back for 2 days before 12/20/2015 and I am excited.  Archer loved disney, and I'm not just saying that.  He literally slept about 30 mins the whole day because he was having so much fun.  I got blessed with a super happy, easy going baby who most the time is fairly happy.  He hardly ever cries, and really is super super good (besides on car rides).  The waiting in line got him a little anxious because he was bored, but on every single ride he rode he would do his happy little scream and laugh.  He enjoyed his stroller and mickey mouse ears and even got his very own mickey to take him along with about 5 other toys but hey only kid+disney for the first time= spoiled rotten.  He had so much fun and I was so happy that he did because T and I are huge disney lovers and this meant a lot to see our baby so happy and so excited.  We went to Disney on our honeymoon and really want to take our children to Disney every few years because we are obsessed.

While I was there I learned some tips+tricks and will deff use them all next time so I thought I would share for all my mommy friends.

#1// take a stroller but also take something to carry them in.  I took his awesome Jeep Adventure Stroller (Highly recommend it) but I left his chest carrier in the car because I didn't think we would really need it.  But I regretted it.  While waiting in line it would have been awesome to have him on our chest so our arms didn't get tired.  We were switching back and fourth all day long to keep our arm sanity sane.  So pack a stroller+chest carrier and you should be set.

#2// Disney has a "baby care center" in the park that allows nursing moms to go nurse in AC, change your babies diaper in peace and quiet (and a much cleaner area), and have a drink of cold water (free) and feed your little ones with high chairs.  It really was SO nice to be able to go in and let archer crawl around on the floor and stretch and feed him in a high chair.  They also have baby items you can purchase (although we didn't need any) but they had everything from diapers, formula, apple juice, etc.  It was such a nice area and huge high five to Disney for that building because it was super kind and nice and the staff was amazing.

#3// Buy you baby those darn mickey ears.  Go ahead and spend the $20 on custom mickey mouse ear hats because the cutest thing in the world is your cute little baby sporting those all around the park.  I about died when we put archers on, because he was cute before but holy cow was he adorable with those on!

#4// infants can actually ride a lot of the rides.  I was somewhat worried that he would only be able to go on about 3 or 4 rides but a lot of them actually accommodate babies.  His favorite were the story land boats, the train, and pirates of the Caribbean.  I will try to remember what we rode here;; story land boats, the train, pirates of the Caribbean, snow whites scary adventures,  dumbo flies, its a small world, a rocket one, teacups, Pinocchio, Toads wild ride, Jungle Cruise, and there were probably more but I cannot remember them.  But yeah there were a lot of rides that he could go on.

#5// Don't wait in line to see characters if your baby is younger then about 6 months old.  We got luckily and got to see Woody right as he was leaving and Archer didn't really care.  He just wanted to go on rides so I was super glad we didn't wait the 60 minute wait line for Mickey because he wouldn't have cared one bit.  If you child is super into a character then maybe but archer wasn't really feeling it.  I wish the lines weren't so long cause nothing is cuter then seeing your baby with a disney character but Archer didn't really care to see them so it wasn't a huge deal for us.

#6// We only did one day of Disney and I was glad.  After that day was over, I was super tired and was so glad we didn't have to go back again.  One day was enough for me, T and Archer.

#7// Make sure to pack sunscreen, extra memory cards, water, and your own snacks.  You can take in your own drinks, so we stocked up the bottle of A's stroller with water so we didn't have to purchase much in the park.  We got there and our HTC didn't have a memory card in it and no where in the park sold one so we got stuck shooting all our pictures with our cell phones which made me sad because they aren't the best quality.  But luckily we are going back next week so I will for sure take better pictures then!  Sunscreen was a must because you don't want your little ones getting sunburnt and being cranky.  We also purchased some of these from Amazon or they sell them at bed bath and beyond and it was super nice.   You get it wet and snap it and it stays cool for a long time.  We laid it on archer and it kept him cool and not too sweaty.

#8// Stay close to the park.  We decided we wanted to save a few extra bucks and decided to stay about 20 minutes from Disney.  The hotel we stayed in offered a shuttle but it was horrible.  They only would go every hour and once it got full you couldn't go.  So the park closed at midnight but their last shuttle was at eleven, and that one was booked so we ended up having to go home at 10.  I was super bummed because we missed the fireworks and parade but luckily we will be back.  The parking lot when we pulled it was insane and i believe it costs $18 to park there so just spend the extra money and stay within walking distance to Disney.

#9// If you care to miss the parades that is the best time to go on a ride.  We got into a couple rides super quick because everyone was in line watching the parades during the day.

#10// Document your trip and take tons of pictures of your little ones!  It really is the happiest place n earth and I am so lucky to only live 5 hours from it.  Make sure to have a fun filled day and do everything you possibly can!

I hope this helped some of you moms who are going to be going to disney soon with an infant.  I saw several people with babies younger then Archer and they still had their sanity.  So take those little ones and enjoy the day!

Lana is the owner of 2 sweet cheeks off Instagram.  She makes some of the cutest items I have ever seen.  She makes boy+girl handmade items and she is currently taking all orders.  She has a turnaround time of 1.5 weeks.  I love everything she has on her page!  Her sister had always made little clothes for their kids so when she started having kids she had such motivation to sew!  She loved seeing all the items she had made on her children, and she got lots of compliments and requests if she would sew clothes for their children.  She decided it'd be a good idea to start a shop so everyone could see what she was doing and what she had available.  She started to get a lot of followers and likes from Instagram.  She has two children which is why she chose the name "2sweetcheeks." 20% discount for the month of September using code: save20archer

Nikki with Monsters Under my bed is one of my favorite insta shops.  All he products are up to standard, and she always makes sure everything is perfect before shipping her orders out.  A lot of Archers pants came from her and I am addicted.  I place a new order every other week from her because I love them!  She Started Monsters Under my bed out of necessity.  Around the time her son turned 2 he started to become scared of Monsters and the dark.  She made him a monster doll that he could carry anywhere.  This helped to get him through his phase.  Soon she began to make them for friends and customizing them as gifts for baby showers.  She started to receive orders for them.  She soon opened a shop and added organic cotton leggings, shorts, bibs, cardigans and many other baby & toddler garmets in modern prints.  She focuses on custom orders and she believes in giving her customers choices and allowing them to dream up new and fun styles for their littles at a affordable price. It is still just her and her machine with the part time support of her wonderful husband.  She believes in supporting small businesses when possible.  She still makes monsters and other woodland creates but the bulk of her orders are the leggings sewn with USA made organic cotton.  Use code SEPTEMBER for 20% off // good until 9/9/15

How how you've grown

I cannot believe that in a couple of weeks Archer will be six months old, half a year, half way to one years old.  These last 6 months have flown by with my little and I cannot even begin to stand that he will be 6 months old.  He is so smart, and is sitting up by himself, and already wanting to start crawling.   He eats super well and eats homemade baby food and some solid foods.  He laughs at everything, naps super well, sleeps through the night, and is just all around such a good baby.  I don't know how I got so blessed to be his mom, but I am beyond thankful.  Motherhood has taught me so many things, even in just a short 6 months.  I love my little family, I love my family, T's family, my incredible friends, and everything that has fallen into place for us.  I am so grateful for everything and everyone who stumbled across my life and for those who have walked out, I am even thankful for that.  Being a mom has made me realize that all you really need is your spouse and children.  I would choose Archer and T over anything, anyone, any day.

Baby Food Making || Part II •my favorite food items•

This is about the 4th time making Archers baby food but only the second time I have blogged about it.  Before I did mainly vegetables but I got the okay from my pedi to introduce all different types of food to Archer.  He is currently 5 months old, and eats like a champ. So far he has liked all types of food but his favorites are blueberries, pineapple, and green beans.

What you'll need:
Fruits
Vanilla Yogurt
Ice Cube Trays
Blender (I use magic bullet & baby bullet)
knives
pots

Step 1: gather supplies.  So today I decided to make pineapple, blueberries, mango, apples, peaches & pears.   I went shopping and I normally buy everything fresh but today all the pineapples weren't ripe and they were out of blueberries.  I bought the canned pineapple chunks & frozen blueberries.

Step 2: Wash!  I wash all the fruits to make sure they are clean and then I peel them.  I peel the following fruits BEFORE I cook: Mango, pears & apples.

Step 3: So T and I saw this super cool thing on face book where you use a drill to peel your apples? Well we gave it a go and it worked SO good.  IT peeled those suckers so quick, we also did the pears and it worked perfect.  So I cut them up into little pieces and throw into a bot of boiling water, (separate pots.) I let them boil until tender.

........In the meantime I start on the pineapple & blueberries.  I throw the bag of blueberries into the microwave for 2 minutes and open and drain the pineapple.  I use both a magic bullet and baby bullet (they are exactly the same honestly.) But by having two it allows T to do one and me to one which gets us done faster!  So the pineapple and blueberries are super soft and moist so I don't have to add any formula or yogurt into them.  I puree them and then put into the ice cube tray.  ***Make sure to label your ice cube trays and write down what fruit is in what tray because they all tend to look the same colors and it is SO hard to tell apart after being frozen.**

Step 4: I get the pears and apples out and throw them into the bullets (one in each, not mixed) I add a little yogurt and formula to help liquify it more.  I puree and then put into the ice cube trays.

Step 5: I put the whole peach into a pan and boil it until soft, then I let cool and peel.

Step 6: So I have never had a mango before, weird I know.  But anyways, so T and I had NO idea how the heck to even peel one? So long story & several failed attempts we finally youtube it. HA!  Anyways, I wasn't sure if I needed to cook the mango but I felt safer and better doing so.  I just popped it into the microwave and used the "Fresh Fruit" option on my microwave.  It went for about 2-3 minutes.  Then the mango didn't need anything else and it pureed awesome!

Step 7: The peaches were the last to do, and I just added some yogurt and formula in with them.  I felt it was kind of a "peaches & cream" mixture!

Step  8: I leave on my counter until it all cools to room tempter then I put in the freezer!  After it has frozen ( I leave it in for overnight ) I put it into breast milk storage bags (because I have a million left over) and label it.

All in all I made about 6 weeks worth of food in about an hour.  It didn't take long at all and was super easy.  I love knowing that I made Arch's food homemade and that I know exactly what he is eating.  Some people will mix and freeze their fruits+vegetables but I choose to all mine separate.  Then when it comes time to eat, I just pop an apple, blueberry & strawberry into a bowl and microwave.  Then I always add rice or oatmeal cereal and yogurt.  He LOVES it.  This is his morning routine and he gobbles it down!   It works really well for me and I tend to make new food every other Sunday.  I do vegetables and fruits on separate Sundays.

Hope this helps you with your baby food making!!
